Biochrom 30 Amino Acid Analyser
Amino acid analyser based on cation-exchange chromatography followed by post-column derivatisation with Ninhydrin-reagent and photometrical detection at 570 and 440 nm.

The fluidics unit consisting of:
Eluent and reagent dual-piston pumps. Programmable buffer step-gradient system. Inert-gas supply for reagent and eluents. Purging valves for eluents and reagent. Column temperature control unit. Post-column derivatisation unit. Photometric detection: inert flow-through cell with 440 nm and 570 nm wavelength.
The autosampler unit consisting of:
Variable volume programmable, temperature controlled high pressure liquid chromatography injection system. Model type: Midas. Standard variable injection volume 1 to 200 µl specifically programmable for each individual sample. Injection mode programmable per sample. Partial loop filling mode with less than 20 µl dead-volume sample loss. Microliter pick-up mode with zero sample loss by means of additional carrier liquid to transport sample. Flushed loop injection mode injects total sample loop volume. A standard sample loop of 200 µl is mounted. Sample loops up to 5000 µl are optionally available.
The Microcomputer system consisting of:
Due to the fast changes of the computer market no exact specifications can be given here. Currently the PC system is based on Intel Pentium microprocessors, and contains the usual modules like hard-disk, CD-drive, monitor, mouse, keyboard and comes with the Microsoft Windows XP-professional operating system.

Amino acid standards
Amino acid standards are the most important part of the analytical process. For the identification, as well as for the quantification of the amino acids in the samples, physiological and hydrolysate amino acid standards are available. The compositions of the standards have been designed in close co-operation with the demands of our customers.
Filters for sample preparation
Together with one of the well-known filtration market leaders, centrifuge filters especially for amino acid samples have been developed. These filters ensure that no particulate matter from the sample pollutes the separation column, increasing its life-time considerably.
